Nannari (Indian Sarsaparilla) is a natural herb known for its cooling and medicinal properties. When combined with white sugar, it can be transformed into a rich, organic colorant used in beverages, sweets, and natural food preparations. This process not only enhances flavor and aroma but also replaces synthetic dyes with a healthy, eco-friendly alternative.
The Nannari roots are first cleaned and dried to remove impurities. Once dried, they are crushed or powdered and soaked in water overnight to release their natural pigment. This infused liquid serves as the base for preparing the organic color.
White sugar acts as both a preservative and stabilizer in the natural color mixture. When heated together with the Nannari extract, it enhances the color depth and ensures a longer shelf life without the need for synthetic chemicals.
After preparation, the mixture is filtered and cooled. The concentrated liquid can be stored in glass bottles in a cool, dry place. It can be used as a natural coloring agent in traditional drinks like Nannari Sharbat, desserts, and other organic food products.
